Brand new to the island last year, Hï Ibiza has proven itself to be a force to be reckoned with. A huge contributing factor to their immediate success is their state-of-the-art design and sound and at an event like Glitterbox, their production truly sparkles. Filled with glitz, glamour and golden confetti showers, Hï Ibiza came complete with bright, shining bursts of colour, captivating laser beams and plenty of eccentricity.
When it comes to the flame of house and disco in Ibiza, as long as Glitterbox is around, then it will keep on burning for as long as it damn well pleases. The opening edition exceeded all expectations in terms of music quality… Basement Jaxx delivered another exceptional headlining performance over in the Theatre featuring a wealth of disco classics including ‘Where’s Your Head At’ and ‘I Feel The Love’ (1979 Disco Club Mix) from DJ Pierre and Chic Loren. Roger Sanchez was also in fantastic form as he blared out an igniting acapella of Roland Clark’s ‘I Get Deep’. Further memorable performances came courtesy of Grammy-award winning birthday girl, Barbara Tucker, Purple Disco Machine and Dimitri From Paris.
Arguably the most extravagant crew on the island, the Glitterbox performers define the word flawless to an absolute tee. Coming equipped with statement stilettos, glimmering thongs and outlandish make-up, the wardrobes of the Glitterbox acrobats are hands down some of the most conspicuous on the entire island.
A hedonistic unison of of the craziest and funkiest clubbers spanning through the different annuals of dance music history, Glitterbox always creates a family occasion no matter where the dance floor is. This atmosphere isn’t just existent on the dance floor either, the vibe is positively reflected throughout the entire Glitterbox team… from the founding father, Simon Dunmore, and the artists on the bill to the exotic dancers on the podiums and the sound and lighting crew… everyone is there to have a good time and the opening party provided the perfect illustration of this.
Possibly the most discussed night on the island in 2017, Glitterbox raised the bar once again with their opening party this year. A glamorous fiesta of gleaming aesthetics, the Friday night concept had Hï Ibiza bouncing from start to finish. From the uplifting classics to fist-pumping crowd present throughout the night, Glitterbox picked up where they left off last season and in 2018, they show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
