Arguably one of the biggest mysteries on the entire island is the magnificent and delicate Es Vedra. Made from top to bottom complete with limestone rock, Es Vedra is located two kilometres off the west coast of the White Isle near Cala d’Hort. Standing virtually at 400 metres tall, there is no mistaking this incredible identity. Surrounded by stories of legends and myths, this island makes for a popular visit to all tourists coming to Ibiza.
Behind both the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle, Es Vedra is considered to be the third most magnetic place in the world. With such riddles and mystery revolving around the North Pole and the Bermuda Triangle due their locations on the globe and famed stories over the years, this simply increases the enigma of Es Vedra – especially when you learn of it’s mythical past.
One of it’ most discussed and famed myths is that the Es Vedra Rock is actually the tip of the immersed civilisation of Atlantis. Whilst it’s exact location remains one of Ibiza’s most treasured secrets to this very day, the natural cave of Atlantis can be found by those prepared to take upon a challenging walk with no guided direction in the bay area opposite the rock. However, when it is discovered, those people will be greeted by a harmonious, spiritually captivating aura complete with beautiful artistic work left by visitors of past years.
Said to be birthplace of Phoenician Goddess, Tanit, it is also been mentioned that this ancient island was home of the sea nymphs and sirens that attempted to decoy the great Ulysses into Homer’s Odyssey from his ship.
Whilst the island is genuinely considered to consist of inspirational energy and savoured positive healing, various people have claimed over the years to have seen UFO’s hovering above it’s premises. With such strange occurrences and even circles of light forming in the ocean, this has intimidated boat owners and fisherman to take their business elsewhere.
With mystery glowing from it’s very core, historical stories and magical scenic views make this island simply a box you need to tick off on your list of things to do whilst in Ibiza. Who knows? You may even be able to tick two boxes at once if you see a UFO!
