Leftwing & Kody – a dazzling double-act defined by determination and diligence.

Real names Jon Kong and Chris Adie, Leftwing & Kody are two of the UK’s most exquisite exports. Gaining tremendous support from the upper echelons of House and Techno including Carl Cox, Jamie Jones and more, they have certainly put the underground music realm on notice.

Finely furnished with a high-octane musical aesthetic, the Los Records chiefs are clearly showing no signs of resting on their laurels and continue to charm fellow tastemakers and dance floors around the globe.

We recently caught up with the spectacular Leftwing & Kody and discussed their 10 favourite summer anthems that remind them of their earliest clubbing days in Ibiza.

L&K – These are all classic tracks that remind us of our early days in Ibiza as clubbers. We still play some of these in our sets now. Amazing memories!

1) Alan Braxe and Fred Falke – ‘Running’

The first year I went to Ibiza, this was playing all over the island. It has a really Balearic vocal and an incredible groove.

2) Kris Menace and Lifelike -‘Discopolis’

An amazing production from these two ‘super producers’. This track was a transition track between the day and night. Thumping bassline and incredible lead synth hook.

3) Deux – ‘Sun Rising Up’

This track was the track of my holiday in 2005. I went with 14 friends and family and have never had a holiday like it since. This was sung on the balcony morning, noon and night.

4) Samim – ‘Heater’

I remember hearing this for the first time on the Space Terrace (when it was open for hours and hours). It was on early in the day, then I heard it played at least another six times within eight hours. It was so different to anything else out at the time and so catchy!

5) Dubfire – ‘Roadkill’

This was a weapon when it came out, and was a huge change from Dubfire’s Deep Dish tracks. It really stood out as a peak time monster.

6) Afefe Iku – ‘Mirror Dance’

This is just pure chilled Ibiza beach vibes. Love the catchy Xylophone hook.

7) Octave One – ‘Black Water’

Sublime House music! The live string section combined with the solid House drums and Ann’s unmistakable voice. This is a bonafide Ibiza classic.

8) Booka Shade – ‘Mandarin Girl’

At the time this was released, Booka Shade had a sound that was very haunting and emotional. Killer synth lines and breaks that would draw you in and slap you down when the bass line came back in.

9) DJ Rolando – ‘Night Of The Jaguar’

An absolute classic from the Underground Resistance label. Another Balearic based track that just keeps building and building.

10) Nathan Fake – ‘Sky Was Pink’

A track that stands out on its own and probably always will. We still sometimes close our sets with this one.
