Afterlife: The ultimate guide to resurgence through the power of rebellious techno music.
Following successful stints at Space and Privilege, the Thursday night staple provided another monumental shift in the Ibiza party landscape by returning to their original hunting ground, but under a new guise – Hï Ibiza.
Headed up by world renowned Italian duo, Tale Of Us, this highly acclaimed residency has since become one of the most discussed nights the party capital has to offer. Providing everything from techno’s elite and most promising names to an all-encompassing sensory overload taking us into outworld dimensions, it’s not hard to see why either.
Promising to deliver something alternative and adventurous, expectations were at an all-time high. Much to our delight however, all expectations were exceeded making Thursdays at Hï Ibiza a consistent fixture in our clubbing diaries this year.
Here’s a selection of the most memorable moments from Afterlife’s 2018 season.
Equipped with bespoke lighting, installations and tailor-made production across the both rooms, Afterlife’s opening bill of Tale Of Us, Dixon, Maceo Plex ensured an exceptional start to the summer.
Overwhelming those in the Theatre at the opening through profound and beautiful selections, their modern day remix of Energy 52’s trance anthem, ‘Cafe Del Mar’, arguably made this one of their most complete and honest sets of the year.
A regular behind the decks at Afterlife this summer, Maceo Plex has made the Club room his very own techno sanctuary. Arguably his most impressive Hï Ibiza outing to date, last week’s all-night-long performance saw the Mosaic man dive deep into his library of electronic expertise scaling everything from ambient electronica, breakbeats and melodies with dub and techno flourishes appearing throughout.
It’s not everyday that you get to see three of your favourite DJs play back-to-back in Ibiza. However in late August, the dance nation played witness to one of the moments of the season as Tale Of Us was joined behind the decks by Solomun and Ben Klock. Fusing together mesmerising soundscapes and lush rhythms with intense and powerful selections, a rare kind of artistry and emotion was captured in the Theatre on this night.
Renowned for his incredibly thrilling, high-risk live performances, KiNK delivered the goods on not one, but two occasions this season gracing both the Theatre and the Club. Complete with courageous, daredevil gear shenanigans, the Bulgarian’s entertainment value was equally as good as the idiosyncratic sounds he created.
