Six festivals you can’t afford to miss this April

With spring now in full swing, festival season is beginning to gather momentum. Here’s where you need to be this April.

Always injecting life into their local scene, the world’s best festivals have a renowned habit for making a perpetual impression on their relevant populace.

Through endless hours of great music and international dance floor unity, no feeling quite compares to losing yourself at your favourite festival.

Son Tinh Camp, Hanoi, Vietnam – 6th-8th April

From Epizode Festival to Air Festival, electronic music is currently a thriving subject over in Eastern Asia and this weekend is no different. A three-day boutique festival taking place at the scenic Son Tinh Camp on the idyllic shores of the majestic Dong Mo Lake, Equation toasts to the emergence of the Asian underground scene uniting all those involved.

Founded by creative individuals behind club Savage, Cliche Records and Fragrant Harbour, this pristine event blends together local acts with global heavyweights in a fusion of house, techno, disco and funk.

Maimarkthalle, Mannheim, Germany – 7th-8th April

Long hailed as Europe’s most notorious techno festival, Time Warp will host its 24th instalment this coming weekend. An initiation process for many techno addicts, this year’s edition will feature no fewer than 42 leading names across a total duration of 19 hours.

Taking artist rosters to completely new heights, Mannheim will present debut Time Warp caps to the likes of Paula Temple, Nicolas Lutz and Nastia. There will also be performances from your usual suspects including Sven Vath, Tale Of Us, Maceo Plex, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, Ben Klock and more.

Taking place in Mayrhofen, Austria, Snowbombing takes electronic music to one of the finest ski resorts in Europe illustrating exactly why it is one of the world’s greatest shows on snow. Complimented by a backdrop of stunning, snowy mountain ranges, the festival promises a range of igloo raves, enchanted forests, street parties and more.

A four day spectacular situated in the remarkable mountaintop location of Crans-Montana in Switzerland, Caprices celebrates its 15th anniversary edition in 2018. Home to one of the most visually impressive venues on the planet, MDRNTY, sits 2,200m above sea level providing sensational panoramic views of pellucid skies and snow-capped mountain scenery.

Displaying a love for deeper house and techno, Caprices will welcome such illustrious talents as Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Henrik Schwarz, Ben Klock and Paul Kalkbrenner to this year’s showcase.

Sunwaves Beach, Navodari, Romania – 26th April-1st May

Famous for its extended sets, Sunwaves is arguably one of the most sought-after festival experiences on the European circuit today. Recognised for its experimental, delicate, looping sounds spanning the minimal and house realm, Sunwaves has been a firm favourite amongst underground heads for more than a decade.

Taking place at the popular black sea resort of Mamaia Beach, Sunwaves showcases some of Romania’s finest selectors, both established and up-and-coming, as well as some of the most in-demand names in the world. This year will feature such acts as Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Seth Troxler, Craig Richards, Raresh, Rhadoo, Barac, Sonja Moonear, Petre Inspirescu and many more.
