The line-up on offer tonight is incredible, we were here last week and we’re back again this week because we literally couldn’t keep ourself away. The main room started with Gabriel & Dresden warming up the club (which was already very busy) for Dash Berlin. Dash Berlin appeared at the decks after the A State of Trance intro (They do this before every artist – it literally gives you goosebumps!). Dash Berlin began with his remix of Red Hot Chilli Peppers – By the way.
But, the thing we were most excited by today is the addition of the Vista Room, this small room down the side of Privilege is a great idea. You have the big-room visuals, performers and grand size of the main room. Then, the small, intimate, stripped-back vibe of the Vista room, and the view…it’s incredible, especially when the sun rises.
This room was late to open due to the late arrival of Tritonal. I love Tritonal and they’re one of the reasons why we’re here tonight. It’s their first ever time playing in Ibiza. As soon as they got behind the decks we were let into the room. By 5 minutes the place was rammed and the atmosphere was electric. The crowd was jumping up and down to the songs laid down by Tritonal. Personal favourites: Everafter and Lifted! <3. The Tritonal duo were some of the most energetic DJ's I've seen, they really came alive with the music. Before we knew it their set had ended, but not before we managed to score a cheeky photo with the guys.
Next up: Cosmic Gate, we were there for them last week when they played in the main room. By now the atmosphere had quietened down, and the dance floor had separated to see the main man: Armin Van Buuren next door. The show was incredible again, and I have a new found love for Privilege because of this.
Another artist we saw last week was TyDi. I really like this DJ so we went back to the Vista room to see him again. Best decision ever. His set was amazing. This new room has such an amazing vibe to it. It's incredibly intimate and it almost feels like you're an integral part of the DJs set.
Now, do we go see Markus Schulz closing the main room or Tenisha in the Vista Room? Ok, we did both and was very impressed with Tenisha. They played pretty hard for 5:00-6:00 in the morning but that didn’t stop us dancing away like it was the start of the night. In the main room Markus Schulz was playing a much lighter set, which made a nice change from the carnage in the Vista Room.
Home time… for now. I absolutely love the A State of Trance party at Privilege. I’d even go as far to say it’s my favourite night in Ibiza. If you’re interested in popping a long to see for yourself, check out our A State of Trance page.
If I’m honest I haven’t been to Privilege this season yet, I’m not sure why though, they’ve got a pretty impressive line-up of events. From The mammoth A State of Trance night which took over from Tiesto’s slot, the ever-popular Supermartxe party. Chart-toppers Redfoo and the party rock gang (LMFAO), The Face of Ibiza, and many more one-off specials. It seems Privilege have upped their game this year and it seems to be paying off.
Now, onto the party – Armin Van Buuren wasn’t on the bill to play tonight, instead it was Markus Schulz’ turn to headline the 10,000 capacity club. Joining him was Dash Berlin, Cosmic Gate, Jochen miller and Tydi, making an impressive line-up with the finest trance artists’ on Armada’s roster.
We got into the club at 1:30, missing the last of Jochen Millers set, but stepping into the club right as Cosmic Gate dropped their collaboration with Emma Hewitt (Be Your Sound). We’d stepped into a trance paradise.
The club is cold, something of a luxury in Ibiza. With a raised platform at the back and cavernous dance floor. The DJ booth is massive with a huge screen towering behind it. The visuals were the most impressive that I’ve seen in an Ibiza club, a lot of thought had gone into them which made the atmosphere so much better.
At Privilege you’re not just there for a night of clubbing, your there for a show. Every night is like a festival with the most amazing performers. I mean, where else can you see a guy ride a penny farthing above the dance floor? The booth was lined with dancers, some on the ground and some suspended from the ceiling. To the left hand-side was a massive ASOT invasion character keeping an eye on the dance floor.
Markus Schulz did a great job of getting the crowd going, but for me Dash Berlin was the highlight of the night. He played a stonking set with a few classic tracks thrown in for good measure.
We’ve enjoyed the party so much that we’re looking forward to going again next week to see it when the master, Armin Van Buuren is there. He’s joined by Marcus Schulz, Dash Berlin and Gabriel & Dresden in the main room. The Vista club room will host Cosmic Gate, Tydi, Tenisha and a personal favourite, Tritonal.
