Ibiza may be a small island, but it has a surprising number of ways to get around – from taxis and buses to boats, hire cars, and scooters. Here’s everything you need to know to explore the White Isle.
Taxis in Ibiza
Taxis in Ibiza are reliable but can be scarce in peak season, especially late at night.
You can’t hail them in the street like in a city – your best bet is to either call a local taxi number (operators speak English), use the Taxi Click app (like the island’s version of Uber), or pop into a nearby hotel and ask reception to book one for you. Illegal taxis often end up being more expensive than licensed ones – and with no insurance or official licence, they’re never worth the risk.
Taxi Click App: It can be a bit clunky but works well enough. Download from your app store.
Uber: Now operating in Ibiza, but it's still relatively new. Prices are usually higher than standard taxis, and availability is limited.
Local Taxi Numbers:
- Ibiza Town: +34 971 398 483
- San Antonio: +34 971 343 764
- Santa Eulalia: +34 971 333 033
- Sant Josep: +34 971 800 080
Car Hire
Hiring a car gives you the most freedom to explore the island’s hidden beaches, inland villages, and sunset spots. Just be cautious with cheaper rental companies – they may offer low rates but hit you with high deposits or insurance fees. Always read the small print.
Parking can be tricky in town centres or beach hotspots, so plan ahead and look for designated lots.
Scooters & Quads
For solo travellers or couples, scooters are an easy and fun way to zip around the island. They’re ideal for short distances and beach-hopping – just make sure you’re confident riding one. Quads are also popular but come with stricter driving regulations and higher rental fees.
Ibiza Buses
Public buses are a budget-friendly way to explore the island, connecting major towns and many beaches. Services typically run from early morning until late evening, with increased frequency during the summer months. Popular beach destinations like Cala Comte, Cala Bassa, and Las Salinas are accessible via bus, making it easy to plan a day by the sea without the need for a car.
Disco Bus
During the summer season, the Disco Bus offers night transport to the island's main clubs and nightlife areas. Operating from approximately 00:30 to 06:30, it connects hotspots like San Antonio, Playa d'en Bossa, and Ibiza Town to venues such as Pacha, Amnesia, and Ushuaïa. Buses run every 30 to 45 minutes, providing a safe and affordable option for late-night revelers.
Airport Buses
Getting to and from Ibiza Airport is straightforward with dedicated bus lines:
- Line 10: Connects the airport with Ibiza Town and the ferry port.
- Line 9: Operates between the airport and San Antonio, via San José (seasonal service).
- Line 24: Links the airport to Santa Eulalia, Es Canar, and Cala Nova (seasonal service).
Boats & Water Taxis
If you’re heading to Formentera or want to beach-hop along the coast, boats are a scenic and relaxed way to get around. Ferries run frequently from Ibiza Town, Santa Eulalia, and San Antonio.
Water taxis also operate between popular beach spots.
